Research in Style: Expression, Ethics and Critical Practice in Design Research

Looking forward to delivering this lecture and workshop on 23 September, exploring how design research develops through writing, reflection, experimentation and critical practice.

Rather than treating research writing simply as a way of explaining a finished design outcome, Research in Style considers writing as part of the design process itself: a way of framing questions, articulating methods, establishing a position, and making ethical and critical judgements.

Drawing from my experience across design practice, teaching and research, the session will move from practical approaches to research writing towards wider questions of authorship, responsibility, criticality and ethics in contemporary design research.
