What is an NPC?


Automated Behavior: NPCs follow predetermined scripts and behave as programmed; they lack the free will and decision-making capabilities of human players.


Quest Givers: Many provide players with quests, missions, or objectives to complete, thus, driving the game's narrative and progression.


Shopkeepers and Traders: NPCs can allow players to buy and sell items, equipment, and resources within the game world.


Enemies and Allies: NPCs can take on roles as enemies that players must defeat or avoid.


World Building: NPCs are used to populate the game world, making it feel more alive and realistic.


Exposition and Information: NPCs can provide valuable information, background lore, and exposition to help players understand the game's story.


Scripted Interactions: NPCs have limited scripted interactions with players, responding to specific dialogue options or actions chosen by the player.
