"SCREENSHOT EPHEMERALITY: CAPTURING TIME IN THE DIGITAL FRAME" Publication Design

In an era defined by acceleration and constant documentation, the screenshot has emerged as a silent witness to digital time. This book investigates the aesthetics, temporality, and authorship embedded in the act of screen capture — a gesture that freezes fluid networks into static evidence. Through interdisciplinary perspectives spanning design theory, media archaeology, and visual ethnography, Screenshot Ephemerality examines how screenshots reframe our perception of duration, memory, and authenticity.

Rather than treating screenshots as mere tools of convenience or proof, the book situates them as temporal artefacts — fragments of the everyday that expose the politics of visibility and the fragility of attention. By tracing the screenshot’s evolution from mechanical reproduction to affective archive, it argues that every capture is also an act of resistance against digital transience — a negotiation between the fleeting and the permanent, the private and the public, the real and the recorded.
