"ON THE GRID: A CATALOGUE OF DESIGN FRAGMENTS" Publication Design

Rather than functioning merely as a compositional device, the grid is approached as a system of classification — a means through which design articulates order, hierarchy, and the politics of representation. Through the process of cataloguing, fragments of practice are repositioned as evidential traces, allowing the grid to operate simultaneously as archive, method, and critique. The result is less a record of design outcomes than an inquiry into the epistemological structures that sustain them.

In tracing the grid’s persistent logic, the book reflects on how systems of arrangement shape the conditions of design itself.
